Calculate powers, roots, squares, cubes, and more. Essential mathematical tool for students and professionals.
In mathematics, **Powers** and **Roots** are inverse operations, just like addition and subtraction or multiplication and division.
This calculator allows you to perform two types of calculations simultaneously:
Some numbers have integer square roots or cube roots. These are called perfect squares and perfect cubes.
Numbers that are not perfect squares or cubes will have decimal results that are often irrational numbers (numbers with non-repeating, infinite decimals).
You can calculate the odd roots (like cube root, 5th root) of negative numbers in the real number system. However, the square root (or any even root) of a negative number results in an imaginary or complex number, which this basic calculator does not support.
A negative exponent means taking the reciprocal of the base raised to the positive exponent. For example, 2⁻³ is equal to 1 / 2³ = 1/8 = 0.125.
Any non-zero number raised to the power of 0 is always 1 (e.g., 5⁰ = 1, 100⁰ = 1).
